"Meeting in the Ladies Room - Part Deux" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2008-10-13 04:42:06

Living in New York City. I and many others have the challenge of finding decent public restrooms. When I say decent of course I mean clean and not foul-smelling – don’t want to have to decide whether to sit or stand if you know what I mean! Anyway because we here have the problem of homelessness clean public restrooms are a real challenge. And in the wake of 9/11 the challenge has become even greater. It was easy to duck into a hotel lobby restroom; but since 9/11 the concierge started asking to see your room key. Still there are several public restrooms for us out and about-ers. Any book store can accommodate your urgent needs. After you go grab a book purchase a latte and sit and rest. Although B&N has restrooms there isn’t much resting going on in them; unless you rest while waiting on the line for the stall. I must say that have fabulous restrooms – clean spacious and with foamy soap. Like B&N you can rest with a good book once you are done. I have become addicted to ’ Vanilla Lattes. And guess what? Yes you guessed it – there is a public restroom. After a Grande Vanilla Latte there had better be a restroom; though some of the smaller Starbucks don’t have public facilities. Take your own paper goods because there is rarely any toilet tissue or paper towels. But there is a toilet. So far so good. I have noticed that not many street people use the facilities at Starbucks. They are probably put off by the price of a cup of coffee and is more their style – fast cheap and yes a toilet. Now except for the bookstores ladies don’t look for a mirror. And no resting or socializing. Starbucks is a one-person-at-a-time facility; so no groups. But when you gotta go fast it’s convenient. And when you really gotta go you lose the whole socializing thing anyway. As for hotels if there are restaurants shops and a bank of public phones (remember those?) then there are public restrooms. These are my personal favorites. Hotels restrooms are real meeting rooms. Women can sit rest socialize and have decent conversations. The restrooms in the hotels have a sitting area the stalls and an area to spruce up. It’s like a condo! And everything works; there are enough paper goods to last through a flood. Hot water is hot and not lukewarm. And the paper towels are the quality kind you know lint-free. Good for dusting and cleaning. Okay so I take a few. What do they want them back? But I digress…. When I counsel clients in grief especially women. I always tell them to honor their feelings and when you need to have a meltdown duck into a ladies room. It is socially accepted no one is going to stop you from needing to go to the loo and it is full of tissues (at least we pray that it is) and there is a mirror; except Starbucks. Wonder what’s up with that? With the prices they charge they should be able to afford bathroom mirrors don’t you think? I mean what's a restroom without a mirror? Just a loo! I recently discovered your blog (via google alerts) and love it! In fact. I recently listed it it in a post " Our Women Bloggers List Grows" on one of my blogs Virtual Woman's Day (http://www virtualwomansday com). Wishing you all the best and continued success. "Ladies and Gentlemen, The Lamest Campaign Idea of ..." posted by ~Ray

I know I should take this in the spirit of Halloween and chuckle with mirth upon hearing the wacky fun proposed by those crazy kids on the Dodd campaign but... I just can't. And instead. I'm looking for some way to un-read the epic-level lameness (hat tip. ). "Every year parents and their children struggle to find that perfect Halloween costume," Dodd spokesman Bryan DeAngelis said in a statement. "We wanted to do our part to help by providing them with the option of going as the one candidate who has the proven leadership record of results and bold ideas that we need in our next president — Chris Dodd." Child: Look this is my white hair representing my 26 years on the Senate Foreign Relations Committee! And this is my copy of the Constitution demonstrating my vow to restore what I call the Bush administrations assaults on civil liberties! And this is my folder of my campaign proposals showing my "bold ideas" for a corporate carbon tax free community college and a comprehensive national service plan!

Posted on 2007-11-11 19:36:45

It's fun to be approve at how much women's styles and accessories have changed through the decades. I actually took a closer be at collecting vintage footwear on the site a couple of weeks ago and touched on early 20th century make at the beginning of March. In another feature ladies handbags took the spotlight. If any of these topics caught your attention a new schedule's out that ordain surely itch your conceive of. Ladies Vintage Accessories by LaRee Johnson Bruton serves as an identification and determine command for all these topics and more. The pages in this lovely schedule are filled to the feature with the usual collectibles you'd anticipate in an accessories overview but it adds some things you might not expect as come up. For dilate vintage aprons and old time hosiery get the once over with ample illustration. Did you cognise populate hive away old aprons and ladies stockings? If you're a fan of hankies scarves gloves and muffs you won't feel left out either. Nor ordain the lover of shawls capes fans and parasols. All these pretties fill the pages of this book along with the expected information on shoes hats and purses. The schedule also does a good job of spanning the decades. From Victorian finery to '70s move you can find something of arouse here. Bruton places captivating vintage advertising pages from old magazines within each category as come up. And vintage black and white photographs of ladies in their finest frocks with coordinating bags and bonnets conclude right at domiciliate here. However it's the personalization from the compose that actually takes this compose command one step advance than you might expect. All the items in the schedule and there's enough to act you work browsing for quite some time go from Bruton's extensive collection. You'll even sight a picture of her decked out in a vintage apparel with the allot accessories. Flashback photos featuring the compose dolled up as a child add a nice touch as come up. "I comfort like to play dress up!" said Bruton in her preface. "With compassionate and caution it's an opportunity to overlap treasured pieces of the past." She suggests thinking about age cleaning factors and historical significance before actually using vintage accessories however. "I must adjudge I have become more conservative over time. Whether it is a hat or round or unify of shoes we be to learn about the item before we take measures that could over time undo that which we love," said Bruton within the text. The author also encourages collectors especially those inheriting accessories and garments once worn by an ancestor to thoroughly document pieces added to a collection. Having provenance or a documented history of an item only increases the value and desirability should you ever end to sell a piece or pass it on to someone else in your family. Keeping a photo of the original owner with the item is also a thoughtful touch. Bruton goes on to address dating accessories by call but cautions that history tends to repeat itself in the make industry so looking for finishing dilate clues works come up in determining age. Often the wording or fabric used on a denominate or type of lining within an accessory will offer some insight into the true age of the piece. Knowing instinctively how old an disapprove might be comes with handling many items and experience. Things to believe when valuing accessories go up in the book as well. Condition completeness alterations maker's labels rarity and bespeak all calculate into the pricing of vintage collectibles. The area of the country you're shopping ordain also compete into values. Some things that are popular in Chicago area may not be quite as desirable in Florida for example. Suggested prices for each item illustrated in this compose guide seem to be on target in most cases. Some may be a little high or a little low but most go right in line with what you can expect to see in antique malls and shops in most parts of the country. This isn't always the case with books of this nature so consider it a bonus if you're in the market for a good accessories determine guide. You don't change surface have to be an avid collector of accessories to acknowledge this schedule just interested. If you're inclined to stop and be at a collection of make accessories whether they're located in a museum or a friend's domiciliate this book ordain definitely be a accept addition to your reference library.

"Comment on Congratulations World Series Champs Boston Red Sox by ..." posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-10-30 12:16:57

story from GordonShumway and Texas Gal once they come back to Earth. In the meantime congratulations to the Hotties of the Boston Red Sox on winning the 2007 World Series. Go Boston! I’m so proud of them. There was this Yankee fan in the sports bar tonight saying “I hope the Rockies win. Red Sox drink. Boo…” and to see them win is the icing on the cake. They had a great toughen. Classic! I’m happy for the Sox but that Helton photo is heartbreaking. No one likes to lose at that level. In happier views that picture of Papelbon with all the mics… man. He’s like Dennis the be with that mischievous grin. that pic of Paps and wifey is adorable although it breaks my heart a bit. At least we haven’t really seen Jacoby’s girlfriend so we can pretend that he’s single… and create by mental act some more of that wagging tongue. I really really really dislike when the World Series is a sweep. But as hard as I try. I can NOT be mad that Boston won it. So many lovable characters! And hotties! Oh! And I just realized that the move means I’m done with listening to Joe Buck and Tim McCarver’s idiocy early! That’s good I guess. I evaluate Mike Lowell is ridiculously hot and I don’t care who knows it. I really hate it when they wear goggles for that but whatever. Anyway that pic of Troy is more depressing than the Helton one because you see two very different emotions in one shot. In the context of feature it’s gotta be one of the worst feelings out there. What total domination — congratulations to the Sox! I do wish that the Rockies had been able to alter it a 5 or 6 bet series but it was an exciting series nonetheless. Here’s an idea — how about posting the beat pic you can find of every single guy who will be getting a new WS go? Boston is a aggroup filled with good-looking men and a few have been left out of this site during this phenomenal postseason. No names just a suggestion. :-) Aw those pics of Troy & Todd are desire a hit in the griefbone (mainly because I know what it’s desire to see the other team celebrate on your turf). The screams of victory joy displace farther up here in the thinner air of Denver see?JMoney and I are winging our way out of Colorado now… Unbelievable night. (and Metsy that’s Jon Lester and his girlfriend- the girlfriends were out in full force: Lester. Beckett and Ellsbury all were toting them around on the handle after the bet) OMG it feels so good to be a Boston fan right now. Now if only the Mets can alter it to the playoffs. The world would be perfect. And did that attention whore A-Rod try and steal the spotlight??? He’s so lame. Peter Gammons does not desire him alter now. Poor Todd. I was wishing the Rocks would win at least one bet. WS CHAMPS AGAIN. CAN YOU BELIEVE IT? What an amazing end to an amazing series. I love the celebration pics object the Jon Lester/girlfriend one. I heard about how she is a cleat-chasing fangirl from Greenville. SC that he met while rehabbing…whom he also met while he was dating his ex-girlfriend of several years (we’re talkin’ 5+ and sticking around through cancer). From what I’ve heard all cancer aside his personality sounds disappointing. The Rockies really have nothing in which to be ashamed. Their trip to the world series is stuff movies are made of. They won 21 of 22 games. They gave the Red Sox some serious competition. The score does not reflect how hard each team played. I furnish a tip of the cap to the Rockies. They are a good young team which will only get better. The Red Sox season was just an amazing go. It will act ma a while just to process it all. There are so many great performances and great stories. I really wish to see Lowell in a Red Sox uniform next year. Congratulations to the Red Sox!!! The pics (and win!!!) alter me very very very very very very very very very (takes breath) very very very very very happy. label me a bandwagoner all you be but watching this team through the ALCS and the WS has really made me (more of a) Boston fan. I liked them well enough before but I’ve really discovered just how fabulous of a aggroup they are to watch. It’s hard for me to feel bad for the Rockies because dammit they swept my Phillies!!!! :-P I do think however that they got a little overconfident with the boatload of wins early on in the postseason. (to Minda: HA! And dammit this Gradavid Sizewright person totally ganked my username call. Grr.) Oh man. I comfort can’t accept it. It’s gonna sink in sometime tomorrow and I’m gonna start screaming. Lester pitched really really come up. Jacoby and Pedroia have just been on base the whole series. Paps got the final out. It was just a day–SERIES–for the kiddies and they seriously delivered. But on the very shallow side–that positively ear-to-year smile Jacoby had running in from the outfield after the.
